available for adoption directly from the shelter. We list them as
a service, but can not endorse their temperaments or physical health.
If you are interested, contact the shelter immediately,
as some of these dogs are in imminent danger
of euthanasia. Please mention to the shelter that you saw
the dog here. If you end up adopting one of these dogs, please email
our SIS volunteers.

Zenith
Zenith is a 2 yr old male who is owned by a well known rescue organization in Walnut Creek (Tony LaRussa's ARF). He is being fostered in an experienced GSD home, also in Walnut Creek. Zenith is healthy, good around other dogs, good in a crate, good in the house, and does not seem to "mark" in the house. He is however, somewhat high energy and would be ideal for an active owner, jogger, or walker. He plays well with other dogs that enjoy a somewhat "rough" style of play.
Zenith can play with either male or female dogs, as long as they get along. No cats for this boy. He does not jump fences, does not dig, and is quiet when outside. He has some basic obedience, but he is in need of more help in the training department. He would be described as happy, outgoing, and loving/affectionate toward people. He is tall and a large dog, somewhat thin. No small children , as he is very active. He should go to someone experienced with this type of dog. He is a terrific boy, just in need of more training. She's six years old and weighs 90 pounds. She has been spayed and has never had a litter. All of her shots are current.
Hermoine has lived all of her life on a farm in Madera, California, and has protected her home and family for six years. Shalimar is a lovely as her name suggests! She is a nice example of the German Shepherd Dog. We recommend that she go to a home which is familiar with the GSD as they aren't the easiest dogs to own. They are a bit too clever for their own good and they are bred to work all day. An active mind and body mean training and exercise required. She will need to be exercised to daily. Lexi is a wonderful dog. Her past humans said she loves to ride in the car, likes adults and kids, but will bark at strangers,. She is crate trained and know basic commands like sit, and down,. She is working on stay., She wants to be top dog so, best if the other dog in her family is VERY submissive. For sure if you have a dog we will want them to meet as part of the adoption process. She was well loved by her last family but they had an old sick dog and did not feel it was a good "scene" for their older dog.
